36 Minutes

In the heart of my community, a transformation has occurred, brought about by the construction of HS2. The high-speed rail project promises connectivity and prosperity for businesses along the route. Inevitably, the construction causes disruption and destruction to the natural surroundings. With images taken from various sites around the West Midlands, endeavouring to document the relationship between progress and the profound impact on the local environment.

Capturing these locations of HS2 formation juxtaposes construction against the organic landscape, converging in a visual narrative. The images fragment to reveal a dismantled landscape, reflecting on our collective feelings about our evolving view of the environment and our challenge to protect it.

“Thirty-Six Minutes” is an ode to the resilience of the local environment, a visual testament to the profound impact infrastructure and development have on the places we call home.
